Kundalini Yoga is known as the 'Yoga of Awareness or Consciousness'. Each practice, or Kriya, is very specific to lead to incredible outcomes and deep transformation on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level to bring purification of body, mind and spirit. The profound benefits from the practice can be felt from the first class.

In this series we will be focusing on cleansing our entire being for a Spring clean and set ourselves up for the coming seasons.

Kundalini Yoga is an incredible tool for self-healing and Transformation. From your first class you may feel a profound shift towards healing or experience any kind of minor or major breakthrough. It can also bring things to the surface that at times may feel challenging and uncomfortable, as Kundalini Yoga shines a light on our ego, it brings things to the surface to be worked through and healed. This series has been lovingly put together to create a series to work towards our own self-healing. Something that is beneficial at any time of life, but particularly in recent times.

WHAT IS KUNDALINI YOGA?

~Kundalini yoga is the yoga of self-transformation on a cellular level through the combination of conscious movement, Kriyas (specific set of exercises), breathing exercises (Pranayama), breath work, meditation and mantra. It is an ancient science based in humanology - the science of being human.

~Yoga has been around for thousands of years and is a totally different practice than what you might experience today. In fact, it’s meant to be just as much a spiritual practice as it is a physical one (if not more). According to the eight limbs of yoga, the postures (asana) is just one aspect of yoga. All of it stems from ancient Tantric principles, which are meant to help you live your fullest life. And by full, they mean a fully conscious life. Kundalini yoga is a practice that will help get you there. This is why it is known as the ‘yoga of awareness or consciousness’, because it gives you the exact tools needed to attain consciousness. Kundalini yoga provides a sort of spiritual awakening, at best, and boosted pranic energy with a steady practice.

~Kundalini Yoga is a very ancient and traditional form of yoga and the origins are not exactly clear as it was only ever passed down from teacher to student. Until it was brought to the West in 1968 by Yogi Bhajan. It is probably very different to the Yoga you may be familiar with or practice such as vinyasa or hatha yoga. Kundalini Yoga is more of a spiritual experience, using asana, pranayama breathing, and mantra chanting to awaken Kundalini energy within you.

~Through a Kundalini yoga practice, the yogi moves spiritual energy along the central spinal Chanel (sushumna Nadi) where the chakras lie. Connected to the Earth through the root chakra at the base of the spine, the kriyas used in the practice are meant to facilitate movement of the Earth energy through the chakras via the root chakra and bringing into a micro-orbit back down the vagus nerve. When this movement of spiritual energy begins, there can be a lot of physical, emotional, and spiritual changes. This process of awakening Kundalini energy can be extremely powerful and life-changing.

A basic kundalini class involves a specific set of exercises (known as Kriyas), Asana, Mantra, Breathing exercises and Breath work and Meditation.

The practice is suitable to all ages and levels and is perfect for beginners. If you have a body, you can do Kundalini Yoga as we can make adjustments and it can be done sitting in a chair. It is a form of yoga that is accessible for everyone and is known as the householders yoga.
